About Department of Applied Chemistry

The Department of Applied Chemistry was established as an independent department in the year 2012. Earlier Applied Chemistry was a constituent branch of Department of Applied Sciences since year 1989 to cater to the needs of B.Tech students. The department is providing highest level of quality education right from its inception.

Department of Applied Chemistry is a unique centre of learning that fosters innovative scientific ideas through interdisciplinary and interacting teaching and research in thrust areas of the chemical and natural sciences. The department is currently a new vibrant department and features 06 faculty members from some of the best national educational organisations like University of Rajasthan/GNDU/NITs/IITs with expertise in various cutting edge areas of science and technology. The Department pursue active research in the areas of asymmetric synthesis, heterocyclic synthesis, organometallic catalysis, polymers, nanomaterials, computational chemistry and analytical-electrochemistry. The faculty members have published several research papers, books, patents and articles at various nationally and internationally recognised platforms of high repute. The department has been selected for TEQIP II and Modrobs. The mission of the department is to provide a dynamic learning environment with emphasis on generating world class professionals of excellent quality with high professional competence in interdisciplinary research encompassing biology, chemistry and physics. The Department, under the dynamic leadership of its Head, Dr.Seema Sharma, is focused to turn students into outstanding professionals.

Message of HOD

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Applied Chemistry at GZSCCET, MRSPTU. The main emphasis of the Department is on the creation and application of knowledge. The Department is committed to teaching and research excellence in chemical sciences. Faculty members are conducting cutting-edge research in a wide range of areas of basic sciences. It strives to produce students who are sought-after, not only for their theoretical knowledge, but also for their spirit of innovation and problem solving capabilities. Although we remain competitive both in research and chemistry education, we shall aim to reach greater levels of excellence. We need to establish many more high-end research infrastructure for carrying out cutting edge interdisciplinary research and the process is going on.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Department.

Sincerely

Dr.Seema Sharma

Head

Department of Applied Chemistry

GZSCCET, MRSPTU

Programme Objectives:

Master of Science in Chemistry imparts basic and applied knowledge in the various branches of Chemical Sciences with an aim to produce good academicians, researchers and professionals in the field. This course deals with the studies of the chemistry and its applications in various fields. It mainly deals with the chemical aspects of the various elements and its properties and utilizations. It includes the studies and research about the surrounding elements and elements which are under the earth. It imparts knowledge of concepts like molecules matter & energy, fundamental chemistry for physical scientists and bio scientists, biochemistry, drug chemistry, chemical reactions and chemical skills.

Mission:

To provide access to quality education and create opportunities for students; creation of a highly productive scientific workforce and fostering a true scientific temper among society.

Vision:

To establish itself as a centre of excellence with social commitment by integrating modern, scientific and technological knowledge with the basic human values and to set-up vibrant partnerships with industries to solve problems relevant to mankind.
